Silly Q'sI've never really played a challenge before, so please excuse me... 
I'm supposed to play the Perfection Household, but what should I do with the other houses in the hood? I don't play in rotation normally, so any advice is welcome.
[eta] Silly Q #2: What am I supposed to do with the school-like room arranged in the Girl's School?

I played mainly Fury and Lark's house until I was a few sim days into the challenge, and kind of knew who from the neighborhood was part of their story. I didn't want to make changes to anyone who was going to be important to the challenge story.
I found that my playing pattern was that I would play the challenge house through to a major event, and then switch to another house for a couple of sim days before going back to the challenge.
I kind of started at the top of the map and am working my way down the coastline of the map. Some of the families are really fun and some are kind of normal. This is what determines how long I play a family. If I'm really enjoying them, I stick with them for a few sim days. If they are kind of normal, I'll play them only a day or just long enough to find out who they are.
I haven't played the girl's school yet. My system doesn't do well with large lots, so I'm kind of avoiding it.

The simplest thing is to play the challenge all the way through, then try out the other houses.
If you want to play other houses while doing the challenge, just don't let anyone die. That's the main thing that would be a problem.
The school room is just for looks. Feel free to redecorate. If the house it too big, you can move them after the challenge.

I have only played the Perfection house so far. I am itching to take a look at the other households .. but will wait. 
I have gone in a few of the community lots to redecorate a bit .. I did not keep all the downloads that come with the neighborhood and have quite a few statues lying amok .. lol ..

I have a new one!
I kept everyone home on Lark's B-da (to adult)... but nothing happened while they would have been away at school; only later - I had them skilling until noon then lef them to their own devices.
Did I break something?

Hmm, I think there's a party the day before their birthday. Then on their birthday the headmaster drops by. That's all, I think.

And yet another!!
Mysterious Benefactor got stuck at the door to the house and could not be interacted with... I had to force and error on him and delete (reset didn't work)...
What did I do *this* time?!?!

Don't worry, you didn't break anything! Mysterious Benefactor shows up to deliver his message. He's just there for "looks." You're not supposed to interact with him, and deleting him won't cause a problem.

He can marry anyone. That was fun, figuring out just who to marry him to and then setting it up. Lark and he kept liking the same girl in my game the first time through and waiting to see if happens that way this time.
I did not notice adding days to lives messing up anything in game but I did really need to till after finished the challenge.

It is hard to get Lark a girlfriend... does he ever get more than 1 lightning bolt for anyone in the 'hood?

Can't remember who he liked the most and got the most bolts.
I did park him at one of the community lots and let him meet a lot of women one time, and had one of the kids greet all the 'walk-bys' so he got to see a lot of women.

It should be ok to add days to their lives after they become adults. Once they do the final part of the challenge, you could turn aging off.
Lark is very, very gay in my game. I made Poi Mellon exactly like Pao, hoping she would make a good female option for Lark. You'll have to age her up if you want to try that.
Lark's turn-ons are make-up and custom hair, so makeovers can make a real difference to him. In my original game he's attracted to:
Pao Mellon
Kinto Encara (Possibly because of the makeup and custom hair)
Buck Encara (ditto)
Dolby Dobbles (! just noticed this, and was really surprised)
Greig Gallant - 3 bolts

What would happen if:
1) I moved out Fury with the wife & kids after they have their second child (she is PG w/ Twins)?
I just downloaded some fully furnished med/lg lots. 
2) I let Lark be the first sim *ever* to cheat in my game?
3) I add a couple more furnished lots to the hood, after my goals are completed?

Answer to:
1) You're going to kill me. Twins don't count as two children. I tried that, too, and it doesn't work. They'll have to have another child, or you can try clicking on the controller, which should let you manually trigger the ending.
2) I say, let Lark cheat. He's got that wide-eyed innocent look, he probably thinks he can get away with anything.
3) Once the goals are completed, you can do anything you like. Move Fury anywhere, add lots, it's all fine.
