You will need to have all the expansion packs up to and including Free Time installed. It also works with Apartment Life installed.

It doesn't matter which stuff packs you do or don't have. A few stuff pack items were used here and there, but if you don't have that pack the game won't crash. Those items just won't be there.

If you are on dial-up, you can download the files here. (insert link) Once you have downloaded all the files, double click on the first file. All the files will be un-compressed and assembled into one folder.

At this point you should have one large folder. Inside are three folders. Place "N042" in your Neighborhoods folder.

Place "N042 downloads" and "N042 default replacements" in your Downloads folder. The default replacements are harmless, but you can leave them out if you prefer. They're just replacement school uniforms, a pink step stool, and a replacement newspaper.

A couple of the lots use custom modular stairs. You can install The Scriptorium to make sure they work properly. http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=192613.

Now you are ready to play! Start the game and enter Larksville. Don't worry, you can't miss it. The neighborhood story won't pop up automatically, so please click on the book icon in the neighborhood menu to read it. This will introduce you to the sims in the challenge.

Now enter the Perfection household, near the lighthouse. (You see it in the picture above. It should be in the upper right part of the neighborhood.)

After a moment, the controller should start working. A message will pop up and your challenge begins. The controller looks like the large apple statue.

We made the neighborhood using clean templates. This means there are no townies! Your game will randomly create them as needed.

Take your time and enjoy the challenge. We designed it to run for many sim days. Some of the sims have "suggested aspirations" in their biography panel. This is not important to the challenge, you can give them any aspiration you like as they age. This is because I've written stories about these sims, and some people may want them to have the same aspiration they have in my game.

If you reach the final task and nothing happens, wait a sim day or so. If you still don't get the final message, click on the controller. There should be a menu item to allow you to manually trigger the ending.

A quick note about hacks - we haven't run into any hack conflicts, so don't remove any of your hacks. When you play, feel free to use "non-cheaty" hacks. We want you to have fun! And we want you to post pictures!
